Your cancellation rights
Because you booked online without meeting us first, you have a statutory right to cancel. Here is how it works, in plain terms.
Draft for review. This page summarises the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 as we understand them. Have it checked by a solicitor before launch.
The 14-day right
You may cancel within 14 days without giving a reason. For the installation service, that period runs from the day your booking is confirmed. For the hardware, it runs from the day the equipment is delivered to you, which for most jobs is the day of installation.
Why we ask you to tick the consent box
Most customers want their installation sooner than 14 days away. The law allows that, but only if you expressly ask us to begin during the cancellation period, which is what the checkbox at the end of the booking form does.
Asking us to start early does not remove your right to cancel. It changes what happens if you use it: if you cancel after we have begun, you pay a proportionate amount for the work already done, rather than nothing at all. If we have already completed the installation at your request, the right to cancel the service ends at that point.
What you get back
| When you cancel | What happens |
|---|---|
| Before installation day | Full refund of your 25% deposit within 14 days. |
| After we have started but before completion | We refund your deposit less a proportionate charge for the work carried out and any equipment already installed. We will itemise it for you. |
| After the installation is complete | The service is finished, so the cancellation right no longer applies to it. You still have 14 days from delivery to cancel in respect of the hardware, and we will quote for removing and making good. The equipment must come back to us in a resaleable condition. |
| The system is faulty | This is separate from cancellation. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and our three-year warranty apply, and we will repair or replace at no cost to you. |
How to cancel
Tell us clearly, before the 14 days are up, by email to bookings@northwestcctv.co.uk. Quote your booking reference. You may use the wording below, but you do not have to.
To NorthwestCCTV, bookings@northwestcctv.co.uk:
I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply and installation of a CCTV system.

Refunds
We refund to the card you paid with, within 14 days of accepting your cancellation, or within 14 days of getting any returned equipment back, whichever is later.
Moving your date instead
If you simply need a different day, you do not need to cancel. Call us at least 48 hours before and we will move you to the next free slot at no charge, with your deposit carried across.
