Terms of service

These terms apply to every installation booked through this website.

Draft for review. This document was prepared as a working draft and has not been checked by a solicitor. Have it reviewed, and fill in the trading name, company number and registered address, before you accept real bookings.

1. Who we are

NorthwestCCTV supplies and installs CCTV systems. You can contact us at bookings@northwestcctv.co.uk. Our registered company name, company number and registered office address are to be confirmed and will be shown here before launch.

2. The contract

A contract is formed when we confirm your booking and you receive a booking reference. Until that point, no slot is held for you. We may decline or cancel a booking where the property is outside our working area, where the installation cannot be carried out safely, or where the system you have chosen is unsuitable for the property. In each of those cases we refund your deposit in full.

3. Prices and payment

Prices shown include VAT, all hardware listed in the package, cabling, fixings and the installation itself. You pay 25% as a deposit when booking, and the balance on the day of installation once the system has been commissioned and handed over. We accept card and bank transfer.

Cabling is run on the surface, and that is what the package price is built on: clipped to the outside of the property on an outdoor system, or along skirting and in surface trunking indoors, with a weatherproof gland at each entry point. Concealed routing, meaning cable taken under floors, through voids or inside walls, is not included. Where you ask for it, we survey the property first and confirm the adjusted price to you in writing. You are under no obligation to accept it, and the installation goes ahead at the booked price on the standard surface runs.

The price is fixed for the package and extras you selected. If, on arrival, the property needs work that falls outside the package, we will stop and tell you what it involves and what it costs before doing anything further. You are free to decline, in which case we install what was booked.

4. Access and the property

You need to give us safe access to the property for the whole of your slot, along with a mains supply and, where remote viewing is required, a working internet connection. You confirm that you either own the property or have the owner's permission for the installation, including permission for any fixings to external walls. Where the property is leasehold or managed, obtaining the freeholder's or managing agent's consent is your responsibility.

We take care to work cleanly, but drilling and cable runs mark a property. Cable runs are visible by default, on the outside wall or in trunking, and we agree the routes with you before drilling anything. We make good the entry points we create. We are not responsible for pre-existing defects, for concealed services that could not reasonably have been identified, or for decorative making good beyond the immediate area of work.

5. Timing

Installation times are estimates given in good faith. We will tell you as soon as we can if we need to move your date, and we will offer you the next available slot. If we cancel and cannot offer a date acceptable to you, we refund your deposit in full.

6. Warranty

We warrant the hardware and our workmanship for three years from the date of installation. The warranty covers faults arising from defective equipment or faulty installation. It does not cover accidental damage, misuse, storm or flood damage, alterations made by anyone else, failures caused by your broadband or power supply, or normal wear such as hard drive end of life beyond the manufacturer term.

Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected by this warranty.

7. Using your CCTV system

Once installed, the system is yours to operate. If your cameras capture images beyond the boundary of your own property, data protection law applies to you as the operator, and you take on responsibilities including responding to requests from people who have been recorded. We will position cameras to minimise this where you ask us to, and the Information Commissioner's Office publishes guidance for domestic users that is worth reading. Businesses have further obligations, including signage.

8. Cancellation

Your statutory right to cancel is set out in full on our cancellation rights page. Separately from that right, you may move your installation date free of charge by giving us at least 48 hours notice.

9. Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability in connection with an installation is limited to the price you paid for it.

A CCTV system records; it does not prevent crime and it is not a monitored alarm service. We are not liable for loss or damage arising from a crime that the system did not deter, nor for footage that was not recorded because of a power cut, a broadband outage, a full or failed hard drive, or a change you made to the system settings.

10. Complaints and governing law

If something is wrong, email bookings@northwestcctv.co.uk and we will work with you to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
